Leading Chinese ride-hailing company Didi Chuxing on Sept. 29 issued an announcement stating that Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and Oct.7 are the three days with the most ride-hailing calls in 2020, with Sept. 30 being the peak due to the upcoming National Day Holiday.

Didi Chuxing also released its 2020 National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival Travel Forecast Report showing that the country will witness a short-period of traffic congestion in major cities at around 9 a.m. on Sept. 30 while the traffic jam peak will start from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.

\n\n\n\n

The platform estimated that Sept. 30 will be the most difficult day to hail a ride throughout the whole year, with a taxi-hailing success rate under 60%.

\n\n\n\n

As of 2 p.m. on Sept. 30, the hashtag #Didi App Crashed# started trending on Sina Weibo, China’s version of Twitter, with a heated discussion about the crash of the leading ride-hailing platform and a glitch in the app’s navigation system.

\n\n\n\n

The official Weibo account of Didi Chuxing posted at 4:19 p.m. that the technical problem had been solved and users can resume hailing taxis.

\n\n\n\n

Since this year’s National Day Holiday overlaps with the Mid-Autumn Festival and it is the first national holiday in post-covid China, it is the first opportunity for many Chinese to travel across the country.

\n\n\n\n

According to data from leading Chinese travel service provider Ctrip, the tourist volume is estimated to reach 600 million during the “golden week” holiday of the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival.

\n\n\n\n

Under such tourism fever, Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province, ranks first in the top 10 popular cities of travel destinations, followed by Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and Shanghai.

\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Hangzhou East Railway Station, Chengdu East Railway Station, and Beijing South Raiway Station have become the top 4 most popular transportation hubs.

Moreover, many Didi Chuxing drivers have taken an early leave, seizing the chance to reunite with their families.

In order to encourage more drivers to take orders, the platform joined hands with taxi service unit Kuaidi New Taxi and new economy ride-sharing service Huaxiaozhu, to issue a driver subsidy worth 100 million yuan on Sept. 30.

Didi also stated that there are more than 3 million drivers still sticking to their positions to keep the ride-hailing business operating during the country’s busiest holiday.
