The vessel Glovis Splendor carrying 4,767 electric vehicles produced by Tesla's Shanghai plant departed on Wednesday from Shanghai's Nangang Port to overseas.
Tesla has confirmed plans to build a new production facility near its current factory in Shanghai's Lingang New Area, in order to expand production capacity.
Tesla China's official website showed on Thursday that the basic price of its Model Y rear-wheel drive electric vehicle was raised by 15,060 yuan ($2,373) to reach a total of 316,900 yuan ($49,921).
According to media sources recently invited to visit Tesla's Shanghai car factory, the combined annual output of Model Ys and Model 3s at the location has reached 450,000 vehicles.
Tesla's Shanghai factory struggled to resume operations at full capacity on May 6 as planned after the five-day national holiday, and the standstill will likely last until May 9.
Tesla's Gigafactory in China has been producing a large amount of Tesla Model 3 vehicles, however the company is still waiting for the official approval to begin selling the cars.
On the morning of October 24, Tesla released the Q3 financial report for 2019. It shows that its profits reached $143 million, with the company’s per car revenue rate increasing by 22.8%.
