Leading Chinese Electric Vehicles (EVs) makers Xpeng and NIO provided their December, fourth quarter and annual delivery results, both setting new records.

Xpeng achieved a record monthly delivery of 5,700 Smart EVs in December 2020, consisting of a record-high 3,691 P7s, the company’s sports smart sedan, and 2,009 G3s, its smart compact SUV.

\n\n\n\n

The company’s December deliveries represent a year-over-year increase of 326% and a 35% increase from November.

\n\n\n\n

In the fourth quarter of 2020, Xpeng delivered a record 12,964 Smart EVs, representing a 303% increase year-over-year and a 51% increase from Q3 2020. 8,527 P7s were delivered in Q4 2020.

\n\n\n\n

Total deliveries for the year ended Dec. 31, 2020, reached 27,041 units, representing a year-over-year increase of 112%. Cumulative P7 deliveries for the year reached 15,062, with mass delivery beginning at the end of June. A total of 11,979 G3s were delivered in 2020.

\n\n\n\n

Xpeng attributes the record December and Q4 delivery results to its increasing brand awareness, expanded sales, marketing and supercharging service initiatives across China.

NIO delivered 7,007 vehicles in December 2020, setting a new monthly record representing a strong 121% year-over-year growth. The deliveries consisted of 2,009 ES8s, NIO’s 6-seater and 7-seater flagship premium smart electric SUVs, 2,493 ES6s, the 5-seater smart electric SUV, and 2,505 EC6s, NIO’s 5-seater premium electric coupe SUV.

NIO delivered 17,353 vehicles in Q4 2020, representing a year-over-year increase of 111%. As of Dec. 31, 2020, cumulative deliveries of the ES8, ES6 and EC6 reached 75,641 vehicles, 43,728 of which were delivered in 2020.

“These results are attributable to the growing recognition of our premium brand, the competitive and compelling products and services, the expanding sales network, and most importantly, the continuous support from our passionate and loyal user community,” said William Bin Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO. “The innovative Battery as a Service (BaaS) model has shown popularity among our users since its launch. With the 100kWh battery pack offered as an option, the penetration of BaaS has reached over 40% among new orders in December, demonstrating its competitiveness and acceptance by our users.”

NIO will unveil its new sedan model and share the latest development of its autonomous driving and other core technologies at the fourth NIO Day scheduled for Jan. 9.
