TCL-backed Thunderbird Innovation Unveils Thunderbird Smart Glasses Pioneer Edition

TCL electronics incubated AR newcomer Thunderbird Innovation unveiled thePioneer Edition of its own smart glasses on Friday. These AR glasses  are innovative in their display effects, power consumption and weight.

The company spent the last three years developing in-house a micro-LED wave guide needed to make the glasses lighter in weight, transparent, and use far less power than previous editions.

According to the device’s specifications, through a self-developed optimal single-layer waveguide architecture, it has achieved a balance in efficiency, dispersion, and mass-producibility.

In terms of functionality, the smart glasses can display message prompts, share photos, translate and use smart controls. According to Thunderbird Innovation, multi-screen presentation, real-world navigation, real-world translation, car mirror linkage, and other functions will be launched later in the future.

Thunderbird Innovation was hatched by TCL and Thunderbird Technology. A set of XR glasses NXTWAER G has already been launched and sold in Korea, Japan, Australia, the United States and other countries.

Recently, many companies have released AR glasses. Nreal, a domestic manufacturer, announced its second AR glasses Nreal Air, and Xiaomi released the Beta version of its Smart Glasses.

According to a report released by IDC in July, global shipments of AR/VR equipment increased by 45% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2021, and it is predicted that AR and VR head-mounted displays will increase by 45.6% and 28.9% year-on-year this year.
