Temu Launches Local-to-Local Model in South Korea
According to Korean media Yonhap News Agency, Pinduoduo‘s cross-border e-commerce platform Temu has announced the launch of the “L2L (local to local)” model in the South Korean market, initiating recruitment activities targeting local South Korean sellers.
Temu stated that the introduction of the “L2L” model aims to “provide South Korean consumers with a rich variety of local products and open up a new market for South Korean sellers to meet millions of customers.” The platform will invite local South Korean sellers to join and expand their sales channels through this model.
To support its operations in South Korea, Temu has established a subsidiary in the country, appointed a head of the subsidiary, and hired local South Korean staff. Since the end of last year, Temu has been recruiting South Korean employees for key positions in human resources, general affairs, marketing, logistics, and has also been advancing partnerships with major logistics companies in South Korea through public bidding to deepen its market presence in the country. This recruitment drive primarily targets South Korean registered sellers who have inventory and can handle orders and deliveries independently. Interested sellers can search for “Temu Seller Center” to access the seller center page.
Data indicates that since entering the South Korean market in July 2023, Temu has shown promising market performance. According to market research firm “Wiseapp Retail,” last month, Temu had over 8.234 million monthly active users (MAU) in South Korea, and South Korean consumer settlements on Temu amounted to approximately 600.2 billion South Korean won last year, making it one of the fastest-growing major e-commerce platforms in the local market.
