Tencent Cloud Launches First Data Center in Brazil

On Thursday, Tencent Cloud, a cloud computing service provided by Chinese tech giant Tencent, announced that it has opened the company’s first data center in South America, located in São Paulo, Brazil. So far, Tencent Cloud covers 68 available zones worldwide, spanning 27 geographical areas.

According to the announcement, in view of the strong digital demand in Latin America, the data center adopts Uptime Tier-III international high-standard computer room, obtains PCIDSS, ISO27001 and other infrastructure certifications. It also features a high standard of redundant network optical fiber connections to many network exchange hubs in São Paulo.

Tencent Cloud said that on this basis, it will provide flexible computing, storage, big data, AI, security and other cloud services for Brazilian and other Latin American customers, and export customized solutions for culture, games, audio and video industries.

São Paulo is the largest city in South America, and it is also its center of commerce, finance, science and technology and transportation. It has the largest bandwidth resources in South America, and brings together intensive network exchanges in Latin America, playing a key role in the digitalization trend in Brazil and neighboring countries. The market research company IDC predicts that Brazil’s total investment in public cloud IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) will reach $3 billion in 2021, up 46.5% year-on-year.
