Tencent Granted Patent for Superconducting Quantum Chip
According to the China National Intellectual Property Administration, a patent entitled “Frequency Control Signal Processing Method of Qubit, Superconducting Quantum Chip” applied for by Tencent in October 2020 was officially granted on Tuesday.
The patent summary says the invention offers a method, apparatus, superconducting quantum chip, and storage medium for processing frequency control signals of quantum bits. It not only enables measuring the distortion of frequency control signals of superconducting quantum bits, but also using the nature of the measured transfer function to correct the control line so as to achieve fast frequency biasing of the bits.
Quantum computing represents a key area of quantum technology applications. In recent years, it has become a must for the development of quantum computers in the global science and technology strategy, and quantum chip development is the core of quantum computer research. Superconducting quantum chips are electronic circuits based on superconducting Josephson junctions, which can be flexibly constructed by semiconductor micro and nano processes, and are considered to be one of the most promising and practical value of quantum chips.
Following Alibaba and Baidu, Tencent is now also working in the field of computer chips. On November 3, 2021, Tencent first disclosed the progress of three independently developed chips. It has three chips, aimed at AI computing, video processing and high-performance networks.
In 2020, Tencent established Penglai Lab, which focuses on chip research and development, aiming at achieving full Enflame Technology coverage of end-to-end chip design and verification. Previously, Tencent also invested in Enflame Technology, a cloud AI chip company.
Available data shows that Enflame Technology focuses on the cloud computing platform in the field of artificial intelligence, and is committed to providing inclusive infrastructure solutions for the development of the AI industry, providing high computing power, a high energy efficiency ratio and programmable general AI training and reasoning products with independent intellectual property rights.
