As the COVID-19 outbreak impacts the entire world, the Tencent enabled initiative will be the largest scale of online global conversation. As the UN stated in its media release, international cooperation and solidarity is more critical than ever. The campaign will encourage millions of people around the globe to share their thoughts on what the world will be like in 25 years, and what role international cooperations should play in solving global challenges, including climate change and pandemics like COVID-19.
“Global cooperation not only plays a vital role in humans’ well-being and our future, but is also the key to fighting the current global pandemic. Tencent will spare no effort in providing the technical solutions to support online meetings and idea exchanges for the UN, with the aim of bringing the global village even closer together,” said Martin Lau, president of Tencent.
Tencent’s remote work software VooV Meeting and WeChat Work have been widely used by companies and schools around the world amidst the COVID-19 quarantine. Tencent also launched an English version of its office collaboration tool WeChat Work, which has already been used by global companies like DHL. Now, WeChat Work boasts over 2.5 million companies and 60 million active users.
