Tencent to Hold Game Launch Event for SPARK 2022 on June 27

The gaming branch of Chinese Internet giant Tencent announced on Wednesday that the “SPARK 2022” launch event would be held at 20:00 on June 27.

Tencent Games said players would get to see new features in gaming technology, game products, and better operability of some gaming applications. The company boasted about its achievements, saying: “When the digital power of games comes to real life, we are about to experience a whole new experience of shuttling between the digital and the real, exploring together the upgrades and breakthroughs of gaming.”

Established in 2003, Tencent Games is the game development division of the parent company and the operator of its gaming business. The company also established its Tencent E-sports brand in December 2016 which it runs along side of Tencent Games, China Literature Limited Group (Tencent Literature), Tencent Pictures and Tencent Animation and Comics.

In December last year, Tencent launched Level Infinite, an overseas game brand, to strengthen its localized distribution and operation capabilities. It has set up several game studios in Boston, Los Angeles and Seattle in the US, as well as Montreal in Canada, and in Singapore, where it is responsible for the development of different games or providing technical support. The latest news shows that Tencent has also opened a new game studio in Liverpool, UK, led by Pete Smith, VP of partnerships for Tencent Games Global.

According to the company’s financial report, Tencent‘s game revenue in the local market decreased by 1% to 33 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2022. The game revenue in the international market increased by 4% to 10.6 billion yuan, or 8% at a fixed exchange rate, which was reflected in the revenue growth of games such as VALORANT and Clash of Clans.
