Tencent’s Honor of Kings Saw Record-High Overseas Revenue in May

Games marketing and mobile app intelligence firm Sensor Tower released its May rankings on Friday for overseas app downloads and revenue of Chinese mobile games.

Dislyte, a 3D card game released by Lilith Games on May 10, ranked 18th on the overseas revenue chart. The game is marked by its novel urban mythology theme, cool 3D cyberpunk art style, rhythmic music elements and core card gameplay. Its estimated overseas revenue in May was nearly $20 million, with the US market accounting for over 53%.

As Titan Equipment and other new content went live, Camel Games’ survival-building strategy game Age of Origins advanced three spots to number 10, with overseas revenue reaching a three-year high since its launch. Arknights rose three spots to number 21, with a 19% increase in revenue during May from a year earlier.

Tencent‘s popular Honor of Kings game set a new record for single-day turnover and monthly revenue since its overseas launch. During this reporting period, it took in more than $13 million, an increase of 35% from April, and returned to 26th place in the income list of mobile games in the overseas market.

After its successfully entry in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, 4399 Game launched the fantasy adventure RPG mobile game “Dragon Hunters: Heroes Legend” in the Southeast Asia market in early May. On the day of launch, the game topped the iOS mobile game download list in Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia. In May, its overseas revenue increased by 130% month-on-month, ranking second on the growth list.

In terms of download rankings, Tencent‘s PUBG Mobile topped the list with more than 9.82 million downloads in overseas markets, while Joymaster Studio’s Parking Jam: Mega Escape, a parking puzzle game launched in April 2022, was downloaded more than 8 million times and ranked third on the download list. Downloads in the Indian market accounted for over 78%.

Shape-shifting, a cube racing game, saw a 16% increase in overseas downloads this month, moving it up six spots to number seven. Meanwhile, Yalla Technology’s board game Yalla Ludo saw a 39% increase in overseas downloads this month, moving it up nine spots to number 11.
