Tencent’s Peacekeeping Elite Partners With Tesla, ‘Model 3’ to Become New In-Game Vehicle

U.S. electric vehicle and clean energy company Tesla has partnered with China’s largest game publisher Tencent Games for Peacekeeper Elite, one of the most profitable mobile games in the world.

Today, Tesla posted a video on Chinese social media Weibo, featuring its Shanghai Giga-factory, Tesla Model 3 electric car, and Peacekeeper Elite’s iconic airdrop box. According to Tesla’s Weibo, the Model 3 electric car will become the new in-game vehicle in Peacekeeper Elite, starting from July 24.

In addition, the two companies will announce details of the partnership on July 24.

This is not the first time that Tencent collaborated with an automobile brand for Peacekeeper Elite. In January, the game added three vehicle skins of the Maserati Ghibli car in the game for one of the celebrating activities during the Chinese New Year.

As Pandaily reported this month, Peacekeeper Elite and PUBG MOBILE (the overseas version) has made over $3 billion USD in lifetime revenue. In mainland China, Peacekeeper Elite itself had generated $1.6 billion on the Chinese App Store. The U.S. is the second-largest market for the game, contributing 14% ($420 million) of total revenue.

In China, Tesla is a notable brand in the country’s electric car industry, The Giga-factory Shanghai is Tesla’s biggest facility outside of the U.S. On July 15, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, became the top nine of Forbes richest billionaires on the list. During the third World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, he gave a keynote speech that Tesla’s local Chinese team would not simply move things from the U.S. market, but also conduct original development, design, and engineering in the country.
