Tencent’s PUBG MOBILE and Peacekeeper Elite Reach $3B USD in Total Revenue

PUBG MOBILE, along with Peacekeeper Elite (The Chinese version), has made over $3B USD in lifetime revenues, according to a report by Sensor Tower. The two are both developed by Tencent Games, the largest game publisher in China, and have become one of the most profitable mobile games in the world, earning $1.3B solely in 2020.

The monthly profit of PUBG MOBILE and Peacekeeper Elite hit the top of $270M in March while people start self-quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. Peacekeeper Elite has generated $1.6B on the Chinese App Store, taking over 52% of the total revenue of two games. On a global scale, the U.S. is the second-largest market, while Japan becomes the third, contributing 14% and 5.6% of total revenue.

According to the report, the global downloads of PUBG MOBIEL and Peacekeeper Elite have reached 734M, among which the Indian market takes the lead and contributes 175M downloads, 24% of the total downloads, followed by the china market with 16.7%. In addition, Peacekeeper Elite has topped Honor of King (The game is also developed by Tencent) as the most profitable mobile game in the Chinese IOS market for the first time in February this year.

Both PUBG MOBIEL and Peacekeeper Elite have mapped out a holistic esports ecosystem. Back in the 2019 PUBG MOBILE Club Open (PMCO) global finals at Kuala Lumper, Malaysia, Tencent announced to commit to putting $5M in 2020 PUBG MOBILE esports prize pool, covering PUBG MOBILE Pro League, PUBG MOBILE World League, PUBG MOBILE Global Finals, and etc. Tencent and Chinese tournament organizer VSPN also co-host Peacekeeper Elite League starting from 2019, the second season of which is about to kick off in late July.
