Tesla’s Model S/X Plaid models were first released in January 2021, and can be regarded as a high-performance version of the standard Tesla Model S/X. Currently, this series of vehicles is produced at the company’s US factories.
The global version of the Model S Plaid is priced at $127,600, while that of Model X Plaid is $130,600. Since they may not be produced in Gigafactory Shanghai in the near future, and together with the tariffs, the selling prices in China are expected to be more than one million yuan ($143,835).
The Model S Plaid has a battery life of about 637 km. It is equipped with a three-motor system, with a maximum power of over 1,000 horsepower. Its 100km/h acceleration only takes 2.1 seconds and has a maximum speed of 332 km/h. Model X Plaid has an acceleration time of 2.6 seconds and a cruising range of about 536 km.
Compared with the Model S, the design of the Model S Plaid has basically been retained, but many design details of the Model 3/Y can be found in the new car. It has been designed with a larger air inlet area in the front, and a curved black decorative strip is led out from the bottom of the air inlet. Besides, details such as door handles are also decorated with a cooler matte black.
The appearance of Tesla’s Model X Plaid basically follows the design of ordinary models, and the main change lies in the adjustment of some details, including blackened wheel rims, hidden door handles, tail trim strips and so on. The new model still adopts unique eagle wing doors, and its wind resistance coefficient is only 0.24 Cd.
In terms of the interior, both Plaid models are equipped with a 17-inch central touch screen that supports flexible angle adjustment. They are also equipped with a vehicle-mounted screen for the rear seats. The computing power can reach 10 trillion floating points per second, which is comparable to the entertainment performance of popular game consoles. The new models also support auto shifts, touch shifts and key shifts, and they adopt a new interior and yoke steering wheel.
