Tesla Will Launch FSD in China and Europe in Q1 2025
Tesla plans to launch its advanced driver assistance system known as FSD in China and Europe in the first quarter of next year, pending regulatory approval.
Tesla AI, a subsidiary of the electric vehicle manufacturer, posted the release roadmap on its social media account on X on Thursday.
The announcement suggests that the company is expected to obtain permission from the relevant authorities in these regions to launch this technology. Tesla believes this is a way to increase sales and stay ahead of competitors.
After passing data security assessments and reaching a mapping and navigation agreement with tech giant Baidu, Inc., Tesla has made significant progress in gaining approval for the Chinese market. Bloomberg reported in June that Tesla has been granted permission to test its advanced driver assistance systems on certain streets in Shanghai.
Nevertheless, FSD is facing increasingly strict scrutiny in the United States, even as CEO Elon Musk bets Tesla’s future on autonomous driving. Although the technology is named as such, Tesla and industry experts indicate that drivers must keep their hands on the steering wheel and pay attention to road conditions while using the software.
In a financial report conference call in July, Musk stated that he expects the FSD system to gain approval in Europe, China, and other countries by the end of the year. In April, he also wrote on X that a launch in China could be realized soon.
