The Pokémon Company Establishes Shanghai Subsidiary, Pokémon Shanghai Toy
Japanese company The Pokémon Company (TPC) has established its Chinese subsidiary in the city of Shanghai, which is called Pokémon Shanghai Toy Limited Company according to Chinese credit and rating tool Tianyancha.
伊藤憲二郎 ポケモン, the business director of TPC Asia region, will act as the general manager at Pokémon Shanghai Toy.
It should be noted that the company is 100% owned by TPC with a registered capital of ¥120M JPY ($1.12M USD). The business scope includes toys, anime, and gaming equipment.

TPC was jointly founded by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures in 1998. The company’s iconic product, Pokémon, a.k.a Pocket Monsters, is Japan’s top media franchise, covering gaming, comics, film, music, and even theme park industry. According to China Economic Net, Pikachu, a major character in the Pokémon ecosystem, had generated more than $90 billion US dollars in economic revenue in the past 20 years.
In addition, the company also partnered with TiMi Studios, one of the biggest game studios in Tencent Games, the biggest game publisher in China. The two are currently developing on a new mobile game called Pokémon UNITE, featuring a “5v5” multiple player online battle arena (MOBA) gameplay.
