TikTok to Add More Jobs Across Europe
US buffeting hasn’t stopped TikTok from flourishing in Europe, especially when the second wave of coronavirus has sent a large part of Europe back into lockdown.
The viral social media platform TikTok passed 100 million users in Europe back in September and has been weaved into the social life of Europe’s youth as an indispensable app. TikTok has grown its staff to more than 1,000 employees across Europe, according to a Business Insider report. The company has also continued listing vacancies worldwide throughout the year, with more than 200 current vacancies in its London and Dublin offices.
There are about 1,000 engineers currently working for TikTok outside of China, nearly half of them based in Mountain View, California, according to the Reuters report. The United States will remain one of the engineering hubs for the company and will continue to hire more staff.

Having already grown rapidly this year, TikTok is also planning to add at least 200 more job vacancies in Ireland over the next three months. In addition, TikTok also plans to hire about 3,000 engineers over the next three years, mostly in Europe, Canada and Singapore, according to a Reuters report.
Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic this year, TikTok took advantage of the crisis and turned it into an opportunity.
“It has of course been a really challenging, crazy year, but for me and for the team, it’s been incredible seeing how TikTok has really become not just part of the culture, but a force that is making and breaking things in culture,” said Rich Waterworth, general manager of TikTok in the UK.
