Uber CEO and Senior Executives Visit BYD Headquarters

On August 28, Cao Xi, Assistant General Manager of BYD’s Brand and Public Relations Department, revealed in a Weibo post that several senior executives from Uber visited BYD’s global headquarters and thoroughly discussed cooperation related to global low-carbon travel. Judging from the photos at the scene, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi experienced several models under BYD and “happily received” a Yangtze U8 car model.

On July 31 this year, Uber, the global ride-hailing giant, and BYD jointly announced that they have entered into a long-term strategic partnership, planning to introduce 100,000 BYD electric vehicles onto Uber’s platform in multiple global markets. In addition, the two companies will cooperate in the development of autonomous driving technology and deploy vehicles based on BYD’s autonomous driving technology on the Uber platform.

According to the statement, the cooperation will first be launched in Europe and Latin America, and then expanded to markets in the Middle East, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Uber’s revenue for the second quarter of this year was $10.7 billion (as noted by IT House: currently about 76.232 billion yuan), higher than the analysts’ expected $10.57 billion. Operating profit was $796 million (currently about 5.671 billion yuan), an increase of $470 million year-on-year and an increase of $624 million quarter-on-quarter.
