As its three-month internal stress test draws to a close, the Universal Beijing Resort (UBR) announced on Tuesday it will officially start trial operations on September 1.

Guests invited for the trial operation need to add their ID information in advance, complete the ticket and ID check at the entrance of the theme park, and go through pandemic prevention and control measures in order to go into UBR. Guests include UBR’s resort partners and fans selected in official marketing activities.

UBR won’t sell tickets during the trial operation period and the tickets are untransferable. Furthermore, all tickets for the trial operation sold online are unofficial. “The legality of tickets remains unclear. It’s uncertain whether buyers can enter UBR with these tickets,” one staff member said.

UBR says that during the trial operation period, it will strictly implement all processes and management measures as required for pandemic prevention and control. Only guests invited have access to the UBR Theme Park, City Avenue and two resort hotels – the Universal Studios Grand Hotel and the NUO Resort Hotel.

During this trial period, UBR plans to open its facilities and services in line with operations and tests, and guests can gain access to scenic spots, entertainment facilities, performances and catering services in the theme park on the designated date. UBR will continuously improve its operations and services based on the experience and feedback of guests, and further prepare for the future grand opening of the park.

UBR is the fifth Universal Studios theme park in the world and the third in Asia. The project was initiated in 2014, and will surpass Universal Studios in the US to become the largest of its theme parks in the world.

At present, other Universal Studios theme parks across the world include sites in Hollywood, Orlando, Japan and Singapore.
