Vivo X Fold2 Foldable Smartphone Unveiled
On March 30, Chinese smartphone company vivo announced that it has become a strategic partner of the Boao Forum for Asia in 2023. At the forum, vivo officially unveiled its vivo X Fold2 foldable smartphone.
The images show that the design of the vivo X Fold2 is similar to its predecessor, with an inward folding design and a body made of leather and glass materials. The camera module is located on the upper left side with a blue Zeiss logo, which follows traditional Chinese aesthetic principles despite lacking symmetry.
According to digital blogger “@Digital Chat Station,” this phone features an IMX866 + V2 ISP trio-camera system without a telephoto lens. It weighs more than 10% less than its predecessor and has a thin body.

In terms of hardware specifications, the vivo X Fold2 comes with an 8-inch flexible inner display supplied by Samsung. The display has a resolution of 2K and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Both internal and external screens support in-display ultrasonic fingerprint unlocking, making it currently unique among other foldable phones.
Additionally, this phone adopts Qualcomm’s second-generation Snapdragon 8 processor and has dual-cell battery totaling at least 4800mAh while supporting fast charging up to 120W. It is one of the few devices capable of such high-speed charging rates using Qualcomm’s latest chipset technology.
Huang Tao, vivo’s vice president of products, said that “the vivo X Fold2 is both versatile yet lightweight,” boasting flagship-level specs while maintaining portability as their most powerful foldable device so far.
Alongside this release will be two other flagship products: vivo’s first small vertical foldable flagship model “vivo X Flip” and the firm’s second-generation tablet product “vivo Pad2.” The vivo X Flip will focus on being lightweight and stylish, while the vivo Pad2 will achieve a comprehensive upgrade in terms of performance compared to the previous generation. It features a larger full-screen display than the previous generation’s product, as well as a large battery and flash charging. All three products are planned to be officially launched in April.
Vivo’s strategic partnership with the Boao Forum for Asia began in 2022, during which vivo launched its first foldable flagship model vivo X Fold and became the officially designated phone of last year’s forum, receiving high praise from industry insiders and attendees alike.
Six months later, an upgraded version, vivo X Fold+, was unveiled at the second international technology and innovation forum of the Boao Forum for Asia alongside vivo X90 series as their officially designated phones for Qatar World Cup, continuing to boost vivo’s brand image towards a more premium market segment.
