Vivo X23 Officially Released With Snapdragon 670 and In-display Fingerprint Scanner
Vivo unleashed its new vivo X23 smartphone during its product launch event in Beijing On September 6.
The new smartphone has an in-display fingerprint scanner embedded under its massive 6.41-inch 1080×2340 pixel Super AMOLED display. With a thin 2.68mm bottom bezel, the X23 boasts an impressive 91.2 percent screen-to-body ratio considering its size.

In the camera department, the X23 has a vertical dual-lens rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel primary sensor, and a 13-megapixel secondary sensor coupled with a 125-degree super wide-angle lens for capturing more mise en scene. On the front, the X23 sports a tiny waterdrop notch design that houses a 12-megapixel camera with extra beautifying functions for taking better selfies.
The X23 is powered by the new Snapdragon 670 chipset with an eight-core processor and 8GB of RAM. Vivo claims that the new Dual Turbo Acceleration Engine utilized will enhance performance greatly. Unlocking the phone with fingerprint unlock is 40% faster compared to the X21, and also available is the facial recognition unlock. There is an extra button on the left side of the phone specifically for activating Jovi, the built-in AI assistant for vivo.
In terms of design, the X23 uses a reflective glass back cover that reflects different shades of the color depending on lighting conditions. The sleek, wavy lines splashed across the back cover gives off a stunning aurora visual effect for the phone.
The device has dual SIM card slots and runs on vivo’s own Funtouch OS 4.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It comes with a 3400mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charge, and takes about roughly 65 minutes for a full charge. Vivo’s Funtouch OS is rumoured to be enhanced to even greater lengths for a smoother gaming experience as well as overall performance.
According to vivo, the company also established joint research facilities with mainstream game companies such as Tencent and Netease to optimize popular mobile games on the device.
The X23 will only be offered in an 8GB/128GB configuration in either Phantom Purple, Phantom Red or Midnight Blue. There is also a special edition of the phone in Fashion Purple and Fashion Orange with the “VIVO” Logo printed diagonally across the back.
The device is currently priced at 3,498 yuan ($512) and will be available for purchase starting on September 14.
