ByteDance’s Volcano Engine has been appointed the exclusive AI cloud partner for the 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. It will use its multimodal AI and cloud tech to support program production and interactivity for the massive live event.
On December 29, Volcano Engine, the cloud services arm of ByteDance, officially announced that it has been selected as the exclusive AI cloud partner for the 2026 China Media Group Spring Festival Gala (CCTV Spring Festival Gala).
Volcano Engine said it will leverage its multimodal large models and cloud computing infrastructure to deeply support program production, online interactivity, and live video broadcasting. The company has previously provided technical support for five consecutive years of Douyin’s Spring Festival Gala livestreams, and successfully handled peak loads during the 2021 Gala, when Douyin red packet interactions reached 70.3 billion.
According to earlier media reports, ByteDance’s AI assistant Doubao will also participate in the collaboration by launching a variety of interactive Spring Festival Gala features. Historically, the Gala has served as a major growth catalyst for internet platforms, with WeChat, Alipay, Taobao, Douyin, and Kuaishou all achieving massive user growth through past partnerships.
Volcano Engine’s deep involvement signals that AI and cloud computing are now moving into the core production and interaction layers of China’s most influential cultural event.
