WeRide Robotaxi GXR Launches Unmanned Commercial Operation in Beijing

On February 24th, the autonomous driving technology company WeRide announced that the new generation of mass-produced Robotaxi ‘GXR’ has been officially approved to launch ‘driverless’ automatic driving ride-hailing services in Beijing. The service area covers the core area of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, including important locations such as city high-speed rail stations.

In addition to urban roads, WeRide GXR has also been approved to conduct commercial Robotaxi operations covering high-speed road sections including Beijing Daxing International Airport in Beijing.

On October 15, 2024, WeRide officially launched the new generation of Robotaixi mass-produced model – GXR, claiming to have “industry-leading L4 level open road pure unmanned commercial operation capability”. GXR can provide the widest boarding and alighting space, the best seating space and the largest luggage storage space for up to “5” passengers in the Robotaxi industry.
