Wife of Former CEO of Faraday Future Files for Divorce
On February 12, The Paper reported that a revised document on bankruptcy agency Epiq’s website disclosed on January 28 revealed personal news about Jia Yueting, former CEO of Faraday Future.

As seen from the file, Gan Wei, Jia Yueting’s wife initiated divorce proceedings and has filed a proof of claim in the amount of approximately $571 million, ever since Jia filed for bankruptcy back in October of 2019.
In early October 2019, Jia Yueting announced that he would actively apply for a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Reorganization in a U.S. court. Subsequently, one of the documents of Jia Yueting’s personal bankruptcy and reorganization application, entitled “Schedules of Assets and Liabilities and Statement of Financial Affairs”, was disclosed. It lists all the lawsuits that Jia faces, among which one is the divorce case between Jia Yueting and his wife filed at the People’s Court in Jinjiang District of Chengdu, Sichuan on October 11, 2019. The current status of the case is “Pending”.
According to the documents, prior to filing for bankruptcy, Jia Yueting paid Gan Wei $400,000 on February 28, 2019 and $110,000 on July 23, 2019. The $510,000 was paid for family expenses.
The couple met in 2004 through the introduction of a friend and were married in 2008. Gan Wei gave birth to twin daughters on December 10, 2014. In 2016, Jia Yueting became a young billionaire with a net worth of $42 billion. However, since 2017, the billionaire has been plagued by huge debt.
