Xiaohongshu Sues Three False Promotion Platforms
Xiaohongshu, a lifestyle sharing platform, announced on Friday that it has formally filed lawsuits against three platforms, including Yunmeiyi, Qunliang and Shengshi Qilin. These institutions are engaged in malpractice in regard to the writing and posting of content and aiding and abetting merchants and bloggers to carry out false promotions. These actions, the company proclaims, seriously damages the legitimate rights and interests of users.
Xiaohongshu requires the named institutions to immediately cease implementing false promotion transactions against Xiaohongshu, and compensate the company 10 million yuan ($1.58 million) for economic losses. The funds will be used for anti-ghostwriting campaigns.
In order to control the gray market behind the platform’s extensive shopping reviews, on January 19th, Xiaohongshu had already filed a lawsuit against four other platforms for false promotion.
Since Xiaohongshu started its anti-ghostwriting campaign on December 16, 2021, it has filed lawsuits against 7 institutions, banned 81 suspected brands and offline merchants, and cancelled 172,600 notes and 53,600 illegal accounts.
