Xiaomi and OPPO to Experiment with 200W Fast Charging, Planning to Promote Commercial Uses
In the past two years, Android smartphone manufacturers have been competing for fast charging dominance. According to a digital blogger “Digital Chat Station”, OPPO and Xiaomi are already experimenting with 200W fast charging and both have plans to promote commercial uses of this technology.
At present, Xiaomi has mass-produced smartphones equipped with the 120W fast charging function, for example, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+. The Red Devils game smartphones are even equipped with a 165W fast charging function. However, this seems to be far from the upper limit of fast charging capabilities.
Xiaomi launched an improved version of its 11 Pro in 2021, breaking two charging records: 200W wired charging and 120W wireless charging. With 200W wired charging, the phone’s battery(4000mAh) can charge to 10% in 44 seconds, 50% in 3 minutes and be fully charged within in 8 minutes.
In addition, Xiaomi has released its third self-developed chip, the Xiaomi Surge P1, which implements the new “120W single-cell” charging technology.

According to some sources, OPPO will also begin the mass production of its smartphones with 125W wired fast charging functionality in 2022. The company has already released a number of technologies besides fast charging, such as internal dual cells, battery safety detection chips, smart charging, and others.
