Xiaomi Confirms December 28 for Mi 11 Series Launch Date

The highly-anticipated Xiaomi Mi 11 series will launch on Dec. 28, a day earlier than rumored, the company confirmed on Monday.

The Mi 11 flagship smartphone is expected to be the world’s first Snapdragon 888-powered device. The new chipset, released by Qualcomm in early December, will power the next generation of Android flagship devices. It features a 3rd generation Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G Modem-RF System, as well as support for 5G carrier aggregation.

Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun released a teaser on Weibo announcing that the Xiaomi Mi 11 series launch will happen on Monday, Dec. 28 at 7:30 pm Beijing time. The post hinted “surprises beyond imagination” and new breakthroughs.

A week ago, information about the appearance and configuration of the Mi 11 surfaced online, with bloggers speculating that the device would come with 12 GB of RAM and Android 11 OS.

Leaked photos show the Xiaomi Mi 11 with a gradient blue color, and a triple camera setup on the back along with an LED flashlight. The triple-camera array will likely have a 108 MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide, and a 5MP macro sensor, according to GizmoChina.

The new Mi 11 is expected to feature a four-curved screen with a top-left punch-hole display while the Mi 11 Pro, with a 6.76-in display, will have a 2K quad-curved hole-punch screen.

The series will become the first in the Mi flagships to support 2K AMOLED screens and a native 10-bit color depth display. The series’ screens are likely to be sent to DisplayMate for testing, and are expected to obtain an A+ level certification.

In addition, the Mi 11 will support 55W fast charging, while the Mi 11 Pro will support 100W super-fast charging. GizmoChina also speculates that prices will start at 3,999 yuan ($610) for the Mi 11 and 5,299 yuan ($808) for the Mi 11 Pro.
