Xiaomi India Announces Leadership Adjustments
The Indian division of leading Chinese consumer electronics firm Xiaomi announced Friday that it will be implementing a series of organizational adjustments.
Manu Kumar Jain, who assumed the role of vice president last year, is now responsible for international strategy, including marketing and public relations. Alvin Tse, the former general manager of Xiaomi Indonesia, will serve as the division’s general manager. Anuj Sharma will rejoin as its chief marketing officer.
International business has become an indispensable part of Xiaomi‘s operations, and it has been making great efforts to explore overseas markets in recent years. In 2019, Xiaomi announced the adjustment of its personnel structure regarding the international department and established the international operator development department. At that time, Alvin Tse was appointed as the director of Xiaomi Indonesia, who was made fully responsible for the business development and operation management in Indonesia.
Alvin Tse graduated from Stanford University with a major in management science and engineering and joined Xiaomi in 2013. He has helped the company expand into many key global markets such as India and Western Europe.

The adjustments are made as the company faces a new round of crises in India. In April, India’s law enforcement agency claimed that Xiaomi made illegal remittances to three entities abroad in the name of royalty payments. As a result, $725 million of the firm’s assets were frozen in April. But an Indian court has put the agency’s decision to seize the amount on hold following a legal challenge by Xiaomi. Before the assets were frozen, Xiaomi’s offices and production facilities were raided in December 2021. In addition, the Indian government has requested that Xiaomi pays $84.5 million for alleged import tax evasion in January.
