Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 to Be Released at Lei Jun’s Annual Speech
Lei Jun, the founder, chairman and CEO of Beijing-based tech giant Xiaomi, announced via social media on August 8 that he plans to hold his annual speech at 7:00 pm on August 11. According to prominent Weibo tech blogger “Digital Chat Station,” a new product release for the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 has also been scheduled for August 11.
Lei Jun said, “The theme of this speech is crossing the troughs of life. Everyone will encounter setbacks and failures in the process of growing up. I’m going to share how I managed to get out of the troughs of life and the lessons I learned.” This will be the tech executive’s third annual speech.
At Lei’s annual speech last year, he not only shared Xiaomi trends, but also released some new products. Based on this speculation, there should also be some new products to expect from this annual speech.
Xiaomi‘s two newest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 products have completed all three certificates now, among which the 22061218C model is expected to be Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, while the 22081212C model is expected to be Redmi K50 Ultra (which is expected to be released in August). Leaked renders show that the MIX Fold 2 adopts an outer screen with holes perforated in the center, and there is no obvious hole in the inner screen.
The new MIX Fold 2 adds “12GB + 512GB and 12GB + 1TB” in storage, while the Redmi K50 Ultra adds “12GB + 256GB and 8GB + 128GB.”
Previously, the company’s community website Xiaomiui.net revealed that Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 has the code name “zizhan.” Its display will be 8 inches, which is not much different from the 8.3-inch iPad mini. The outer display is 6.5 inches, which can realize two-way folding.
According to the news, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, with 2.5K LTPO 120Hz high-refresh-rate inner and outer screens, better crease control and changes in outer screen design. It will be equipped with a 50-megapixel large sensor, which supports Leica images and Dolby Vision HDR video taking.

Reports also indicate that the new MIX Fold 2 will adopt the company’s self-developed professional image chip, the Surge C1, which has dual filter configuration and can realize parallel processing of high and low frequency signals to improve signal processing efficiency by 100%. With self-developed algorithms, the processor can improve the 3A (AF, AWB, AE) performance of images greatly.
