Xiaomi Smart Factory Phase II Expected to Start Production by End of 2023
On Wednesday morning, Lei Jun, the founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, said on Chinese social media that the second phase of the Xiaomi Smart Factory is expected to be put into production by the end of next year. This large smart factory is designed to achieve an annual production capacity of 10 million high-end mobile smartphones.
Lei Jun said that the Xiaomi Smart Factory (phase I) is a laboratory-level factory, and most of the equipment and systems are developed by Xiaomi and companies invested in by Xiaomi.
The phase I part of the factory is located in Yizhuang, Beijing, and covers an area of 18,600 m². It has a whole-process automatic production line, and is a leading intelligent dark factory in the whole industry. “Dark factories” can realize unlit automatic unmanned manufacturing throughout production, management, machine processing and packaging, storage and transportation.

Apart from the production line of high-end smartphones, the Xiaomi Smart Factory also plays an important role new process R&D, pre-research projects, benchmarking standard process output and automation equipment R&D.
Xiaomi started the construction of its Smart Factory (phase II) in Changping District, Beijing last July. According to previous information, this factory covers an area of 58,300 m² and carries the second generation smartphone intelligent production line including SMT patch, board test, assembly, whole machine testing and finished product packaging. It is estimated to have an annual output of 10 million smartphones, with production value of about 60 billion yuan ($8.9 billion).
