Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi Global Vice President and India Managing Director, announced on social media that Xiaomi TV has ranked first in the Indian market for five consecutive quarters.
It is also reported that in the first quarter of 2019, Xiaomi TV also dominated the Indian market with a market share of 39%.
Previously, Xiaomi has announced that it would hold a smarter living 2020 event in India on September 17, during which Xiaomi’s largest smart home product will be launched in the Indian market. As you can see from the trailer, it is probably the 70-inch Redmi TV previously released in the Chinese market. Redmi TV will offer a huge amount of content, and support Mi voice assistant. Alongside the Mi TV, Xiaomi will also launch the long-awaited Mi Band 4 in India on September 17.
Xiaomi has already launched a number of smart home and electronic products in the Indian market such as Xiaomi phones, Mi bands, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, electric toothbrushes, water purifiers and electric scooters. The popularity of Mi products in India is comparable with that in China.
Starting from February 2018, Xiaomi began to officially launch its TV products in India. In February 2018, the 55-inch 4A Mi TV sold out in just 10 seconds, with 32-inch and 43-inch versions entering market consecutively. On May 17, 2019, the official Weibo account of Mi TV announced that the total shipments of Mi TV in India has reached 2 million. The success is attributable to the affordable price of Xiaomi’s products and Xiaomi’s cooperation local content providers in India.
