Xiaomi’s new Wuhan smart factory, launched October 28, 2025, produces one AC every 6.5 seconds with AI inspection and 40% green energy, powering its 100 billion RMB home appliance goal.

On October 28, 2025, Xiaomi’s new smart appliance factory in Wuhan officially began production. Founder and CEO Lei Jun attended the ceremony, declaring it Xiaomi’s third major smart factory after mobile and automotive facilities, marking a key milestone in its “People-Car-Home” full-ecology strategy.

Built in a record 11 months from groundbreaking in November 2024, the 750+ acre facility represents over 2.5 billion RMB in investment, with peak annual capacity of 7 million units and projected output value of 14 billion RMB. Large-scale AC production starts in 2026.

Dubbed a “new benchmark in smart and green manufacturing,” the factory leverages Xiaomi’s HyperOS Manufacturing Platform to produce one high-end AC every 6.5 seconds—51 units per square meter annually. 100% AI vision inspection ensures first-pass yield above 99%, placing efficiency and quality at industry-leading levels. Over 40% of energy comes from on-site solar, with intelligent energy management creating a low-carbon production model.

President Lu Weibing emphasized “Home” as the core of Xiaomi’s ecosystem. H1 2025 saw smart appliance revenue surge 78.1% YoY, with AC shipments exceeding 6.5 million units (+60%), refrigerators (+40%), and washing machines (+70%). AC growth topped 50% for three consecutive quarters, with Q2 shipments surpassing 5.4 million. Lu revealed a five-year goal of 100 billion RMB in home appliances, targeting the top 2 in China’s AC market.

Wuhan is now Xiaomi’s “Home” ecosystem hub, forming a closed loop from design to validation. The factory will serve as the central manufacturing node for Central China.

The launch also bolsters Xiaomi’s global push. Its appliances have entered Europe, and per the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, H1 2025 appliance exports rose 1.4%, driven by smart and green products. AVI DATA notes China’s appliance brands are deepening localization; Xiaomi’s new capacity will accelerate overseas expansion.
