Xiaomi’s Laptop Department Reportedly Merged Into Smartphone Department

A Chinese tech industry blogger exposed an internal document released by Xiaomi on May 20, showing that its laptop department has been merged into its smartphone department on the grounds of strengthening the interconnection between the two product categories. Gao Zheng, the general manager of the laptop department, will apparently now report to Adam Zeng, the president of Xiaomi‘s smartphone department.

In December of last year, Xiaomi experienced a major structural adjustment. According to LatePost’s report at that time, founder Lei Jun handed over a business he was directly managing, the Business Middle Platform Department. The department was established in December 2020 and was responsible for the digitalization and data asset construction and operation of Xiaomi. This department has now been merged into the Information Technology Department, and its chief reports to Wang Xiang, President of Xiaomi.

Xiaomi also adjusted its International Business Department last Friday. The core goal was to integrate several business departments. Xiang Zheng, who joined Xiaomi in 2018 and has 25 years of working experience in the communications industry, is in charge of this work and reports to William Lu, President of the International Business Department.
