Xiaomi’s Lei Jun Visited CATL, Robin Zeng Personally Greeted Him

Sources revealed that on January 17th, Lei Jun visited the headquarters of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), where he was personally received by Robin Zeng, the chairman of CATL.

The video of the meeting between the two parties has been circulating online. Robin Zeng personally greeted and opened the door of Xiaomi‘s SU7 car, only to find Lei Jun sitting on the left side. When he opened the door and saw that Shunwei Capital’s investment partner Hu Zhengnan was on the right side, he quickly went over to greet him.

The online video also shows that Lei Jun and his group did not leave until dark, indicating that they discussed a lot of content.

At present, the Xiaomi SU7 series models are deeply cooperating with CATL. For example, the Xiaomi SU7 Max version is equipped with Qilin Battery from CATL. In April 2021, shortly after announcing its entry into the automotive industry, Lei Jun was rumored to have visited CATL. He and Robin Zeng often appeared together at public events such as auto shows.

In 2024, Xiaomi‘s car division delivered a total of 135,000 new cars throughout the year, exceeding the annual target of 130,000 vehicles with a completion rate of 103.8%. Building on this success, Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi Group announced on the last day of 2024 that their goal for delivering cars in 2025 is set at 300,000 units representing a growth rate of 122%.
