Xiaomi’s New Budget Phone: 6.9-inch Screen and 5500mAh Battery for Only $252
Xiaomi officially launches the Mi Max 3 with its highly anticipated 6.9-inch screen and 5500mAh battery on July 19.

The new budget phone runs on the Snapdragon 636 and inherited Xiaomi‘s iconic “slim body design”. Its body dimensions is similar to its predecessor, the Mi Max 2, but its overall metal body makes it slimmer and lighter. The 6.9-inch giant full-screen has an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. Its screen-to-body ratio is at 85.19 percent.
In terms of battery life, the 5500mAh battery supports Quick Charge 3.0 and can reach 71 percent battery in an hour of charing. Mi Max 3 continues to feature the reverse charging function from the previous generation, and upgraded the power supply to 5V/1.2A, doubling its charging capacity.
As for its cameras, the Mi Max 3 has a dual-lens camera of 12 MP and 5 MP at the back that also supports AI functions and dual-core phase detect auto focus. The front 8 MP camera supports background blur.
Mi Max 3 also added facial recognition unlock on top of fingerprint unlock, and comes in the three colors of black, gold, and blue.
There are two different configurations available for purchase in China: a 4GB RAM/64GB ROM version priced at 1699 yuan ($252), and another 6GB RAM/128GB ROM version priced at 1999 yuan. Sale of the new phone will open in the morning of July 20.
