Xiaomi’s POCO to Release New M5 and M5s on September 5
Xiaomi‘s POCO brand for overseas markets announced on August 29 that it will hold an online launch event on September 5 to release two new smartphones, the M5 and M5s. POCO said that the standard version of the POCO M5 will be equipped with a MediaTek Helio G99 chip and a display with 90Hz refresh rate.
As for the POCO M5 standard version, prior leaks suggest that it is expected to adopt a 6.58-inch full high definition (FHD) screen, with three storage specifications: 4GB+64GB, 4GB+128GB and 6GB+128GB.
POCO M5 standard version will have a built-in 5000mAh battery and will support 33W fast charging. In addition, the phone runs the MIUI 13 operating system based on Android 12, with a side fingerprint, USB-C and 3.5mm headphone interface. The tipster said that the starting price may be lower than 15,000 Rs ($188.67).
According to a report by PriceBaba on August 30, a source said that POCO M5s will have three colors, namely gray, blue and white. And it will be available in 4GB+64GB, 4GB+128GB and 6GB+128GB storage specifications. At present, there is no more information about other configurations of this phone.
POCO’s smartphones are mainly sold in the international market led by India. According to the latest data released by CMR, one-third of smartphones shipped in India was 5G in Q2. For 5G smartphones, shipments in India increased by 163% year-on-year in Q2.
