Xpeng X9 “Super Range”—seven-seat MPV with 1,602 km rated range, 800-V ultra-fast DC, ~430–450 km pure-EV, 1.5L generator for flexibility.
CHINA — Oct. 23, 2025 — Xpeng introduced a range-extended version of its seven-seat X9 MPV, branded Super Range, pairing a large battery with a gasoline generator for a CLTC-rated 1,602 km on a full charge and tank. The configuration is positioned as electric-first with fuel as backup, aimed at households seeking battery-only commuting with long-distance flexibility. Built on an 800-V silicon-carbide electrical architecture, it supports ~300 kW DC fast charging that can add ~300 km in 10 minutes under ideal conditions.
Xpeng Chairman He Xiaopeng said the new “Kunpeng Super Range” system “combines the efficiency of pure EVs with the convenience of gasoline to deliver truly worry-free, all-scenario travel.” He added that, for Xpeng’s first Super Range model, the company “started with the hardest brief—a family-size seven-seater long considered the ‘industrial crown’ of range-extender vehicles—where energy management and systems integration set an extremely high bar.”

The powertrain pairs a 63.3-kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery with a 1.5-liter turbocharged range-extender generator rated around 110 kW, feeding a traction motor up to about 210 kW. On battery power alone, the MPV is quoted at ~430–450 km on the CLTC cycle; in charge-sustaining operation it returns 15.3 kWh/100 km of electricity use and 5.5 L/100 km of fuel consumption. The fuel system uses 92-octane gasoline with a tank of about 60 liters. Cabin refinement is also emphasized, with the generator’s operating noise claimed to sit roughly 1 dB above baseline.
The Super Range retains the X9’s full-size footprint—5,316 × 1,988 × 1,785 mm on a 3,160-mm wheelbase—and carries forward the model’s AI-centric cockpit and latest driver-assistance stack. Pricing and market launch timing were not disclosed. All performance and range figures are manufacturer claims based on China’s CLTC protocol; real-world results will vary.
