YOOZOO Games: The Three-Body Problem Game to Come Out in 3-5 Years

Many drama series adapted from Chinese writer Liu Cixin’s sci-fi masterpiece The Three-Body Problem are to be released soon, but little has been heard about the games derived from the book’s IP. YOOZOO Games, which won the copyright in 2020, revealed on Monday that its Three-Body Problem IP game is expected to come out within three to five years.

YOOZOO Games brings many years of experience in the R&D and distribution of boutique games, and has successively launched many well-known games such as Legend of the Condor Heroes, Daomu Biji, League of Angels and Young Warriors of Fate, with nearly 1 billion users worldwide.

However, on Monday, YOOZOO Games did not announce more details. The last time it commented on the Three-Body Problem game was in March 2021. Its board secretary responded and confirmed that the game project has been officially launched, but it is still in the early stage of project establishment, and the company plans to use Unreal Engine 4 to build it. Although Unreal Engine 5 has been released, UE4 has better and more complete support for game development.

Though YOOZOO Games has many natural advantages in game development, the public is still worried about the Three-Body Problem game. The background and world outlook of the original novel are very complex, and the characters and storylines are crisscrossed, so there must be many challenges in the process of adapting it into a game.

In addition, the producers of the Three-Body Problem TV series include Tencent Penguin Pictures and Three-Body Universe Cultural Development Co., Ltd. (Three-Body Universe). A related party of YOOZOO Games and Ciwen Media sponsored Linghe Culture Media Shanghai Co Ltd.

YOOZOO Games previously stated that Three-body Universe is a subsidiary of its shareholders, and it is not the main body of the company’s system. It has also clarified that YOOZOO Games’ obtaining the game copyright of the novel has nothing to do with the TV series, and the company does not have the film and television adaptation copyrights of the novel.
