Zhipu is supporting Malaysia’s sovereign AI strategy by powering a national MaaS platform and AI talent lab optimized for multilingual use and data sovereignty.
Zhipu has announced new progress in its sovereign AI collaboration with Malaysia, as the country’s national MaaS (Model-as-a-Service) platform and the Z·UM AI Lab, a national sovereign AI talent development laboratory, have officially gone live and entered operation.
The national MaaS platform is built on Zhipu’s open-source foundation models via Z.ai and has been specifically optimized for Malaysia’s multilingual environment, including Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Chinese, as well as local cultural contexts. The platform adopts a sovereignty-first data security architecture, ensuring full autonomy and control as a national-level AI infrastructure.
Designed to support a wide range of applications, the platform will serve government operations, enterprise use cases, scientific research, and education, including AI training and development for students, reinforcing Malaysia’s long-term strategy for building an independent and secure AI ecosystem.
