AR Firm Rokid Bags $110M in Round-C Financing
Chinese augmented reality (AR) smart glasses company Rokid has recently received round-C financing totaling 700 million yuan ($110 million) from undisclosed investors, to be allocated mainly for technology R&D, marketing and ecological construction.
Founded in 2014, Rokid focuses on computer interaction technology, R&D of AR glasses and ecological construction based on the YodaOS-XR operating system. The company has previously received investment from many top institutions including Temasek, IDG Capital, Credit Suisse, Haitong Security and Vision Plus Capital.
Through research regarding speech recognition, natural language processing, computer vision, optical display, computer chips, hardware design and other fields, the company combines cutting-edge Al and AR technologies with industrial applications to effectively enhance the user experience. Its Al and AR products have been put into use in more than 70 countries and regions around the world.
Rokid Glass 2, a pair of foldable AR glasses, weighs 96 grams and lasts up to eight hours. The glasses are equipped with Rokid’s self-developed all-voice operating system, which is suitable for exhibitions, industrial production, education and other scenarios. With the built-in NPU neural network processing chip, the glasses have strong performance in data processing, image acquisition and object recognition. With 300,000 pictures in its database, it can recognize any object in as little as 0.2 seconds to meet the needs of various scenarios.
