Honor Play 6T Smartphone Series to Be Released on April 7

Chinese smartphone maker Honor announced Saturday that its Play 6T series will be released on April 7.

On Thursday, Honor offered a preview of the new devices. Raul Wei, product manager for the Honor Play series, unveiled a new smartphone, but did not disclose much information at that time.

According to its filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Honor Play 6T Pro’s front screen adopts a centered punch-hole display. The device features a rear dual camera, with two cameras on the left side of the screen, while the flash is on the right side. A 3.5 mm earphone jack is also included.

With a thickness of 7.45mm and a weight of 175 grams, the Honor Play 6T Pro will be equipped with a 6.7-inch 120Hz LCD screen with 2388×1080 resolution. The selfie camera adapts an 8 megapixel wide-angle lens. The back cameras include a 48 MP main camera and a 2 million macro lens. Its built-in 4000mAh battery supports 40W wired fast charging.

The Honor Play 6T Pro will be available in an 8+128GB version and an 8+256GB version. There are different opinions on which processor the Honor Play 6T Pro will be equipped with – one is the Snapdragon 680 processor and the other is the Dimensity 900 processor.

Honor’s quick product release has boosted its market share. According to data by Counterpoint Market Monitor published in February, in Q4 2021, Apple’s market share in China was 21%, while Honor’s market share was 17%. The latter has now risen to second place in the Chinese market for the first time.

Honor’s CEO George Zhao said that despite a shortage of computer chips in the global market, Honor would continue to invest in the global market and increase investment in products, marketing, and R&D. Many chip suppliers now invest in more projects for enhanced delivery. He predicted a doubling in the volume of global sales for Honor in 2022.
