BYD’s Flagship SUV Tang DM-p Officially Launched
On August 25, BYD’s Dynasty series flagship SUV Tang DM-p was officially launched. This is a mid-size SUV positioned mainly for four-wheel drive performance and is priced between 289,800 and 322,800 yuan ($42,297-47,113) after subsidies. In addition, a new Tang DM-i 252 KM Premium model was released, which is price at 279,800 yuan ($40,837) after subsidies.

Different from the fully enclosed grille of the Tang EV and the horizontal grille trim of the Tang DM-i, the interior of the Tang DM-p is supplemented with matrix elements, and its style follows the design of the Han DM-p. The thick, chrome-plated trim connects lights on both sides, and the polygonal mesh uses a dot matrix design inside, offering a sharper and improved look to the model.

The EHS E-Motive system is composed of a Xiaoyun 1.5 T engine plus a 160 kW front motor with a maximum combined power of 452 kW. With this power behind it, the SUV takes only 4.3s to accelerate from zero to 100 mph. The vehicle is also equipped with a heat pump system with an official oil consumption per 100 km sitting at 6.5 L.
The new car has a 45.8 kWh blade battery pack with which the pure electric cruising range under NEDC can reach 215km and the charging rate can top 2C. It takes the vehicle only 20 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. In addition, the external discharge power of Vehicle to Load (VTOL) can reach 6kW which enables better deployment outdoors.
