OPPO Launches Full-Screen R11s at 2999 Yuan

OPPO launched its first full-screen mobile R11s on November 2, joining other major brands in providing full-screen products.

At the launch event, Wu Jiang, vice president of OPPO, cited third-party data about the R11’s achievement: since its launch in June, the R11 has been the top-selling mobile phone in the 2,500 to 3,000 yuan price range. The same model defended that title from June to September. Sales data shows that 80.7 percent of all users are younger than 30.

Wu said OPPO’s top five production bases are in Algeria, India, Chongqing, Chengdu and Indonesia; its five research centers are in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Japan and Silicon Valley. The company has filed 1,550 camera patents, 336 core patents in photography, and has defined sensor specifications with many upstream companies.

OPPO entered the full screen market late, but will catch up, Wu said. The release of the OPPO R11s marks its first step. According to Listen, OPPO’s product manager, the R11s used a 6.1-inch full screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The proportion of screen is 85 percent, which is said to be the highest proportion.

The screen is called “star-like” and uses special processing on both sides to make it more comfortable on the eyes. It also has a virtual button instead of a physical one, which allows it to support more gestures.

For photos, the R11s has dual rear cameras supporting 20 and 16 megapixels. The camera software uses artificial intelligence technology to apply beautifying effects to the original 20 megapixels images. OPPO created the OPPO Ideal Portrait Laboratory to develop better effects, it said.

OPPO R11s ships with a Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The battery carries 3205mAh at full charge. Its operating system is Color OS3.2, which supports VOOC flash charging. Compared with the R11s, the OPPO R11s Plus has a larger 6.43-inch screen and a 4000mAh battery.

Both the black and champagne versions of the OPPO R11s are priced at 2,999 yuan. The red version with a star-like screen is 3,199 yuan. The black and champagne versions of the OPPO R11s Plus are 3,699 yuan.The OPPO R11s will be available on November 10, and the OPPO R11s Plus will be available on November 24.
