Shake Shack to Open in Beijing on August 12
New York-based burger chain Shake Shack is opening its 12th outlet in China in Beijing on Aug. 12.
Located in shopping center Taikoo Li Sanlitun, this is the brand’s first store in Beijing.
“The opening of Shake Shack in Beijing is very important to us,” Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti said. “China is one of Shake Shack’s most important markets in the world.”
Garutti added that he’s never missed the opening of Shake Shack’s new stores but he couldn’t make it this time due to the pandemic.
Shake Shack debuted in Hong Kong in 2018, and now has six stores there. The burger chain opened its first mainland store in Shanghai last year and it has opened five stores in the city.
The company in late June announced its plan to open at least 15 new Shake Shacks in South China by 2030, including locations in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Fuzhou and Xiamen, aiming to have a total of 55 stores throughout mainland China by that time.

Garutti told Jiemie News that Shake Shack is trying to keep its original taste with high-quality ingredients and the same cooking methods, while incorporating distinctive local ingredients into the menu.
Besides the regular menu, Garutti said, the Beijing store will offer some exclusive items such as Chinese hawthorn milkshakes and roasted chestnut ice cream just for the Beijing area.
