OPPO Hosts Global 5G Video Call at Roland-Garros, Connecting Guy Forest with Top Junior Tennis Players
Leading smart device brand OPPO on Sept. 26 helped top junior tennis players connect a video call with the Roland-Garros Tournament Director Guy Forest via the OPPO Find X2 Pro to discuss how technology continues to change the world of tennis.
Due to the pandemic, top junior tennis players this year weren’t able to compete or watch matches at the Roland-Garros. Hence, OPPO provided the chance for them to face-to-face talk to Guy Forest, the Davis Cup Winner, together with Denis Morel, the Managing Director of OPPO France, showcasing the brand’s capabilities of OPPO’s 5G handset and the tournament’s 5G deployment.
Guy Forest recalled during the video chat that he first rose to the tennis world’s attention in 1982 when he won the Roland-Garros Junior title as well as mentioned he hoped to light the spark among young talents from China, India, Romania and Thailand who participated in the 5G video call.
This is not the first time OPPO cooperated with the tennis sphere in France. In 2019, OPPO has become the Premium Partner and the official Smartphone of the Parisian clay court grand slam.
Also in the past year, OPPO displayed its first European 5G handsets onsite at the Roland-Garros along with the first-ever 8K TV images of the competition supported by the stadium’s 5G network.
The company is also the title sponsor of the “Junior Wild Card Series”, replacing the chance to compete in-person due to Covid-19 and hosting a global 5G video call to connect aspiring tennis talents.

Additionally, OPPO planned the “Photo Gallery” for the Roland-Garros 2020, where the most beautiful moments from the competition, captured by the OPPO Find X2 Pro, were on display.
“We are proud to be able to welcome back players and fans to Roland-Garros 2020 in a safe environment and we are excited to be able to offer innovative experiences using 5G technology,” said Guy Forest. “The partnership between Roland-Garros and OPPO is about empowering the next generation of champions by facilitating connections and developing the link between tennis and technology, which is more important than ever in these difficult times,” Forest added.
