Xiaomi‘s official Weibo account recently revealed that the company will hold its next major product launch in Shenzhen, with more details to be released this morning.
The release of the Mi 8 and its anniversary edition will likely coincide with the company’s 8th anniversary at this annual event. The Mi 8’s configuration and pricing information are detailed below.
The Mi 8 is referred to as “the next generation performance beast.” It is equipped with a 6.01-inch bezel-less screen and supports instant unlocking with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Mi 8 also has a 3D facial recognition unlocking feature for additional accuracy and safety. In terms of performance, the Mi 8 is equipped with a Snapdragon 845 chipset, and comes with the standard 6 GB RAM with options to expand up to 8 GB. The phone is equipped with an AI camera with a 2x optical zoom lens. The 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage version will be sold at 2,799 yuan ($440), and the 8GB RAM + 128 GB storage version will be sold at 3,199 yuan ($500).
The 8th anniversary edition of the Mi 8, which differs from the standard edition primarily in RAM and storage offerings, will be priced as follows: The 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage version will be priced at 3,599 yuan ($565). The 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage version will be priced at 4,099 yuan ($643). The 8GB RAM + 256 GB storage version will be priced at 4,499 yuan ($705). The most advanced version, with 8 GB RAM + 512 GB storage, will be priced at 4,899 yuan ($770).
