The hit Chinese sci-fi film The Wandering Earth will debut on Netflix on Apr. 30. It is reported that Netflix has bought the copyright of the film as early as Feb. 21, and has had it translated into 28 languages, which will be available in 190 countries and regions around the globe.
Upon the success of the first China’s hard sci-fi film the Wandering Earth, the original story writer of this film and renowned sci-fi novelist Liu Cixin met with James Cameron, the top-tiered Hollywood sci-fi master, creator of Avatar and Terminator.
It is officially announced that the total box office of China’s first hard sci-fi film The Wandering Earth has reached 3 billion yuan ($443 million) in just nine days and 16 hours after its release, now ranking the sixth in history of Chinese film production.
Released on February 5, the first day of China’s lunar new year, The Wandering Earth, is the first ever Chinese hard sci-fi film in many senses. New York Times reported that it marks the arrival of a new era of Chinese film production.
