Two Xiaomi Executives Leave
On Friday, Xiaomi announced in an internal email that Chang Cheng, Vice President of the company and General Manager of Xiaomi‘s Smartphone Products Department, and Shang Jin, Vice President of the company and General Manager of the New Retail Department in Xiaomi‘s China Region, all left the company for personal reasons.
In the email, Xiaomi expressed its gratitude to their contributions. Next, Adam Zeng, Vice President of Xiaomi and President of its Smartphone Department, will serve in Chang’s job. Wang Xiaoyan, Vice President of Xiaomi‘s China Region, will work in Shang’s position.
Before joining in Xiaomi in 2013, Shang Jin served as technical assistant for Xiaomifounder’s Lei Jun’s software maker Jinshan Group in 2002. Shang left Jinshan to start a business in 2005.
Chang Cheng was an executive introduced to Xiaomi in recent years. At the beginning of 2020, Xiaomi announced that Chang Cheng, former vice president of Lenovo Group and head of mobile business in China, had joined Xiaomi as vice president and is currently responsible for smartphone product planning.
However, after joining Xiaomi, Chang Cheng had a dispute over the prohibition of business strife agreements with Lenovo. He finally paid damages of 5,252,821 yuan ($826,006) and a compensation previously paid by Lenovo.
Regarding the personnel adjustment, Xiaomi responded to 21Tech, saying that the company already has a sufficient talent reserve and that the personnel change will not affect the normal development of business.
In the company’s Friday internal email, Xiaomi also announced that 18 new employees will be added to the entrepreneur program, driving its total number to 84.
