Xiaomi Founder Lei Jun Steps down as Chairman of Xiaomi Subsidiary

According to Tianyancha App, the founder of Chinese telecom giant Xiaomi, Lei Jun, recently stepped down as the chairman of Beijing Xiaomi Electronic Products Co., Ltd. which is wholly owned by Xiaomi H.K. Limited.

Lei Jun responded on his Weibo account, saying: “Xiaomi has many subsidiaries, and the adjustment of the board of directors and legal representatives of subsidiaries is normal.”

Wang Hua, general manager of Xiaomi’s Public Relations Department, said that the main business scope of the subsidiary is to produce set-top boxes with smart features, household air conditioners, smart TVs, and household electronic products. Zhang Feng, partner and Senior Vice President of Xiaomi, is the chairman of the purchasing committee of the subsidiary.

Lei Jun has withdrawn from several Xiaomi-affiliated companies last year. Wang Hua said that Lei Jun’s focus is mainly on matters related to building cars and that executives could share his previous work.
