Xiaomi Unveils International MIUI 9, Steps Closer to Stock Android

Xiaomi released its international edition of MIUI 9 in India on November 2. The new system gives priority to a smooth experience, and is comparable to stock Android with its many new functions. Based on a study of foreign use cases, MIUI international edition also has many customized localization services to improve user experience.

MIUI 9 international edition has in-depth optimizations in the underlying system. Its speed is improved with a new file system, optimized touchscreen feedback, smart CPU and optimized scheduling technology. It can provide users with as good of an experience as that of stock Android.

In terms of functions, the international version of MIUI 9 is basically the same as the domestic one, and it supports the new notification bar, dynamic icons, split screen, smart assistant and MI quick pass. At the same time, for the Indian market, MIUI 9 international also adds localized services for train ticket cards, a calendar with local holidays, album stickers for Indians and an official customized theme called “Tiny”.

The international version of MIUI 9 will be available for upgrade in early November. The three apps, namely, MI Calculator, MI Quick Pass, MI File Management, will be launched before that in India alone. All three will be available in the Google Play market before November 16.

MIUI has 280 million registered users. International users account for more than 20 percent of the global community. The launch of MIUI 9 international version will undoubtedly help MI to develop further in its international business.
