Universal Beijing Resort Sets Official Grand Opening for September 20
Universal Beijing Resort (UBR) announced its official opening this Monday. The UBR theme park, two hotels and Universal CityWalk Beijing will be open to the public. After the grand opening, the visitor volume will be managed and adjusted according to epidemic prevention and control requirements.
With this news, keywords such as “Beijing” and “Universal Studios” have seen a significant increase in search volume on various online platforms, and there has also been a surge in searches for hotels located around the newly opened sites.
Data from Ctrip indicates that within the first hour on the afternoon of August 30 after UBR announced its opening, the search volume of UBR on the platform soared by 830%. Additionally, by 4 p.m. on that day, the search volume of hotels around UBR surged by about 320% compared to the same period last week.

Many travel tips have been posted online. However, UBR hasn’t yet unveiled ticket or accommodation prices.
In 2020, Theme Entertainment Association and AECOM jointly released the 2019 Global Theme Park and Museum Report, suggesting that while the number of tourists in leading Asian theme parks was on a slight downward trend, the theme park market in China was growing significantly. Income increases, demographic dividends, travel demand growth, large land reserves and other reasons all provide good conditions for theme parks in the country.
Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO of Universal Parks and Resorts said, “more than 20 million tourists visit Beijing every year, and this presents us with a huge opportunity.”
UBR is the fifth Universal Studios theme park in the world and the third in Asia. It is also now the largest of its theme parks in the world.
The park has seven themed lands, namely, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Transformers Metrobase, Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, Hollywood, WaterWorld, Minion Land and Jurassic World Isla Nublar. It has 37 rides, entertainment facilities and landmarks, 24 shows, 80 dining places and 30 retail stores in the scenic spot.
